From 2.2 GPa to 1000°C! Unveiling the Three Breakthrough Points of  Sunzo Elastic Disc Spring Technology

How does an 8-person R&D team create industry black technology that "reduces weight by 30% + increases life by 11 times" with 40 patents?


In recent years, the company has actively increased investment in research and development. Currently, there are 8 full-time technical personnel, and the proportion of research and development expenses is 10.15%. The company owns more than 40 patents.

At the same time, the company actively cooperates with well-known domestic universities and scientific research institutions on industry-university-research cooperation projects, relying on the company's internal research and development center to carry out special projects and key project breakthroughs. The main technological advancements and their sources are explained as follows:


Technology 1: The second-generation ultra-high-strength disc spring manufacturing technology. By optimizing the composition of metal materials and heat treatment processes, a disc spring with a yield strength of 2.2 GPa has been developed. Under the same performance conditions, it can achieve a 30% weight reduction and an 11-fold increase in fatigue life, meeting the requirement of 2 million cycles. (This technology is a company's independent research and development project).

Technology 2: Ceramic, Carbon Fiber, and Glass Fiber Disc Spring Manufacturing Technology. The introduction of ceramic materials, carbon fiber, and glass fiber, among other non-metallic composite materials, enables disc springs to withstand temperatures above 1000°C and possess excellent properties such as corrosion resistance, radiation resistance, and wear resistance. (This technology was developed in collaboration between Jiangsu Sunzo Elastic Technology Co., Ltd. and a university in Nanjing.)

Technology 3: High-temperature-resistant disc spring manufacturing technology. Ordinary spring steel materials can generally only withstand temperatures below 200°C, and high-temperature mechanical property degradation will occur if the temperature exceeds this limit. This technology optimizes the raw material composition of the disc springs, heat treatment processes, and high-pressure processes, ultimately enabling the disc springs to meet the requirement of not experiencing degradation when maintaining pressure at 400°C for 48 hours. (This technology is a company's self-research project.)

SUNZO has it’s own researching and development team and test center, has participate in rule-making of the latest national industry standards and the international ISO standards for disc springs.
